Our Ohio Medicaid plan covers eligible families, pregnant women of any age, infants, children and adults. The plan also offers extra support and care to adults and children with a disability, long-term illness or special health care needs.

Members must choose a primary care doctor from our network. Plus get access to a 24/7 nurse advice hotline, health education materials and extras that other plans don't offer.

OhioRISE

Ohio Resilience through Integrated Systems and Excellence (OhioRISE) program is a managed care program for youth with behavioral health needs. OhioRISE increases access to in-home and community-based services to ensure OhioRISE members and families have help with systems such as juvenile justice, child protection, developmental disabilities, mental health and addiction, education, and others.

Dual Special Needs plans

Dual Special Needs plans (also called Dual Health plans or D-SNPs for short) are for people who have both Medicaid and Medicare. Dual plans cover most doctor visits, hospital stays and prescription drugs. They offer many extra benefits beyond those you get with either Original Medicare or Medicaid.

Exercise and weight loss

Exercise and weight loss

Losing weight does not have to be hard. Getting more exercise is one of the best ways. Try to get 60 minutes or more of exercise every day. It doesn’t have to mean doing hard exercises or going to the gym every day. Just move your body. Here are some ideas:

Move — dancing to your favorite tunes can help you burn more than 300 calories an hour. If you do play video games, play interactive ones where you have to move. You don’t even have to leave the house. Try exercises like jumping jacks, marching in place, going up and down stairs, push-ups or sit-ups at home.

Walk — take a walk with a friend outside. Walk your dog or your neighbor’s dog, or walk your cat. Instead of driving, walk or bike to school or a friend’s house.

Clean — vacuum your house or apartment. Wash the car. Mow the lawn. It’s another chance for you to get more exercise, and maybe even have some fun.

Unplug — limit your time watching TV or using your smartphone, computer or other device. Keep screen time to less than two hours a day. When you do watch TV or use your phone, try marching in place or exercising while you watch/play.

Healthy eating for a healthy you

When you eat more calories than you use, your body stores the extra calories as fat. A few extra pounds are not bad for most people. But too many extra pounds and too much body fat can be bad for your health. Doctors call this being “overweight” or “obese.”

Body mass index (BMI) is a way to check for obesity. Doctors use your height and your weight to see how much body fat you have. The best way to stay at a healthy weight or to lose weight is to make good food choices. Here are some easy ways to do that every day:

  • Eat more vegetables and fruit whenever possible
  • Choose low-calorie foods or smaller portions when eating out
  • Pick healthy side dishes like apple slices or apple sauce instead of french fries
  • Drink water or milk instead of soda
  • Try nuts or whole grain crackers instead of chips
  • Replace sugary snacks with yogurt or dried fruit (with no added sugar)

OH Medicaid ID Card

Medicaid plans

OH Medicaid is health insurance for people with low incomes. You might be able to get Medicaid in Ohio if you’re pregnant, have children or live with a disability. In some cases, other adults may also qualify. Costs to you are low and based on your ability to pay. It’s important to know that Medicaid rules and coverage differ from state to state.

Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNP)

Dual Special Needs Plans (also called dual health plans or D-SNPs for short) are for people who get both Ohio Medicaid and Medicare. Dual plans cover doctor visits, hospital stays and prescription drugs. They offer more benefits and extras than Original Medicare. You’ll keep all your Ohio Medicaid benefits, too.
