Medicaid plans
New Mexico Turquoise Care
Turquoise Care is the name of New Mexico's Medicaid Managed Care program offered by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. It’s for children, families, pregnant women and adults who meet income and other eligibility requirements.
New Mexico Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS)
Our New Mexico Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) is a health coverage program for New Mexico residents who meet requirements and who are eligible for Medicaid. LTSS is designed to improve quality of life for members of any age who have functional limitations and/or chronic illnesses. LTSS helps support the member to live or work in the setting of their choice, which may include the person's home, a worksite, provider-owned or controlled residential setting, a nursing facility, or other institutional setting. LTSS provides in-home counseling sessions that focus on solving problems and becoming socially and physically active.

Individual & Family ACA plans
UnitedHealthcare offers Individual & Family ACA plans in New Mexico. They’re designed to give you the coverage you need without breaking the bank.
Choose from plans in the Bronze, Silver and Gold metal levels. They each come with a variety of benefits, including reliable support from our customer service experts.

New Mexico Turquoise Care (Medicaid)
Turquoise Care is the Medicaid Managed Care program for New Mexico, offered by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.
Medicaid is a federal and state health insurance program. It helps people of all ages get quality health care. Medicaid helps support many groups including:
- Children
- Families
- People with low incomes
- Children and adults with disabilities
- Older adults
- People diagnosed with substance use disorder
Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS)
LTSS is designed to improve the quality of life for members of any age who have functional limitations and/or chronic illnesses. Many people who are in this situation want to live independently at home. Our Turquoise Care LTSS plan makes that easier. It offers extra support services such as:
- In-home personal care to help with daily activities
- Adult day centers for social activities
- Support with housing, getting food, going to the store or feeling safe
- Respite support for family members or friends who help with care
How to enroll
To be eligible for New Mexico Medicaid coverage, you must be a
resident of the state of New Mexico, a U.S. national, citizen,
permanent resident, or legal alien, in need of health care/insurance
assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low
income or very low income.

Language help and interpreter services
Many on our Member Service team speak several languages. We also have an interpreter service, which supports more than 240 languages over the phone. We also support American Sign Language.

Programs
Turquoise Rewards
Turquoise Rewards allows members to earn points for completing certain health activities. You can use your reward points to shop for hundreds of fun, healthy items in the Turquoise Rewards catalog.
For example, you can earn reward points for:
- Attending an annual checkup with your primary care provider
- Getting a flu shot
- Completing health screenings, like a mammogram, cervical cancer screening, and others
- Keeping up to date on your children’s immunizations

One Pass
This fitness program for members 18 and up, provides unlimited access to many local gyms, including the YMCA. Change locations at any time, or explore workout plans and join classes online.

Maternity support and baby care
- Car Seats -- Pregnant members can get a car seat for safe infant travel (limit 1 car seat per baby).
- Transportation -- We cover trips to medical appointments, WIC appointments and more

Pregnancy and infant support -- Our maternal child
health team will help you learn what to expect when you see your
doctor and how to take care of your changing body. We will help you
learn about:
- Local resources
- Nutrition, weight, and well-being
- Fitness
- Sexual health
- Substance abuse
- Domestic violence
- Healthy First Steps® (HFS) -- This specialized case management program is designed to provide assistance to all pregnant members and those experiencing an uncomplicated pregnancy. It also helps manage medical, behavioral and social risks.
- BabyScripts -- An education and reward program for pregnant members and new parents
- Doula and breastfeeding support -- We offer in person and virtual support. Doula services offer care and guidance to moms during and after pregnancy.
- Well-child visits – Provide screenings, like speech and hearing tests, and immunizations. These routine visits are also a great time for you to ask any questions you have about your child’s behavior and overall well-being.
- Wellhop -- Helps expectant moms connect with others through online chat and group videos.
Behavioral health and substance use
If you are currently receiving behavioral health services, please let your UnitedHealthcare Community Plan Care Coordinator know. It is important for them to be aware of all the services you are receiving or need.
Also, please let your behavioral health provider know that you are enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Community Plan’s Turquoise Care program. They may have questions about the services you are receiving through Turquoise Care and how we can work together to help you get the care you need.
Behavioral Health services
Behavioral Health screenings are performed as medically necessary for diagnosis and treatment. We cover:
- Individual, group, and family therapy
- Outpatient behavioral health services
- Inpatient behavioral health services
- Specialized behavioral health services for children with autism
Substance use disorder services
Substance use disorder services are performed as medically necessary for diagnosis and treatment. We cover:
- Outpatient opioid (pain medication) treatment
- Residential treatment
- Targeted case management

SeniorLink
SeniorLink is a program for unpaid and family caregivers. The goal is to make sure caregivers have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Caregivers complete an assessment of their knowledge and skills. SeniorLink compares this assessment with the member’s health needs and challenges. Then SeniorLink builds a care plan that will allow each member to live safely at home.
Community benefit
Community Benefit is the home and community-based services (HCBS) benefit package from Turquoise Care. These services allow eligible members to receive care in their home or community as an alternative to being placed in a long-term care facility. They are intended to supplement natural supports and support community living reducing unnecessary nursing home admissions.
Eligibility
To qualify for this benefit, you must:
- Have a full Medicaid category of eligibility or approved waiver
- Meet nursing facility level-of-care criteria
- Be a resident of New Mexico
On My Way (OMW)
OMW helps prepare youth members for living on their own. Things like finding housing, getting a job and managing money. OMW teaches important life skills to help:
- Set and achieve personal goals
- Manage money
- Find housing
- Create a resume
- Get a job
- Apply for college
Nurse hotline
Members who have questions about their health have access to a nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling a hotline.
Our nurses will:
- Listen to your symptoms
- Help with self-care
- Advise if you can get care at your next doctor visit or need urgent care
- Help you know when it is time to go to the emergency room
Rides and transportation
Benefits include assistance with transportation. We cover round trips to:
- Medical appointments
- Food banks and pantries
- Pharmacy visits
- Women, Infants and Children (WIC) appointments
- Medicaid eligibility appointments
- Birthing classes
- Places of worship
- Grocery stores
- Job-related activities
- Support group meetings
You may also qualify for a bus pass or mileage reimbursement for friends and family.
Call Member Services to schedule a ride or ask questions about getting transportation services.
Traditional healing and Alternative treatments
Reimbursement to member or healer for Traditional Healing services performed are covered. Benefits include:
$300 per year for Traditional healing services. This benefit includes but is not limited to:
- Native American Healing and Ceremonies
- Curandismo Healing
Your provider will need to submit a form to get a reimbursement. Forms can be requested by calling Member Services at 1-877-236-0826. For hearing impaired: TTY 711.
Advance directives
Advanced directives
An advance directive is a set of written steps you want taken when you are too sick to make decisions about your health care. It says what you want or do not want.
You should talk about your wishes with your provider, family and friends.
