1. Know the key dates

There are a few dates to know:

November 1, 2024 — Open enrollment begins

Start shopping for a health plan, checking prices and exploring coverage options

December 15, 2024 — Enrollment deadline for coverage starting January 1, 2025
January 15, 2025 — Enrollment deadline for coverage starting February 1, 2025 (in most states)

If you miss these deadlines, you may be able to enroll in coverage with a qualifying life event.

2. Know your needs

Do you have a preferred provider? Do you have regular prescriptions you take? Factors like these may affect your plan choice. Why? Because if your provider isn’t in-network or medications aren't covered, the costs can add up. UnitedHealthcare Individual & Family ACA Marketplace plans offer a 1-month supply of tier 2 (preferred generic) prescription medications for $8 or less at over 45,000 network pharmacies. Plus, you can get them delivered to your door in a 3-month supply without a delivery cost (standard medication copay may apply).¹

3. Check the plan network

If you have a preferred clinic or provider, check to see if they are in-network in the plans available to you. UnitedHealthcare Individual & Family plans have more network providers than ever before, plus virtual care plans that offer $0 virtual urgent visits that make it easy to get the care you need.²

4. Gather your information

When you enroll in an ACA Marketplace plan, you’ll be asked some personal and financial questions about your household. This information is used to check eligibility for plans and see if you qualify for financial assistance. This information isn’t used for any other purpose. You’ll be asked for details like your mailing address, number of members in your household, Social Security number and an estimate of your household income (such as wages, government assistance, pension, retirement account, etc.).
