4 Affordable Care Act Marketplace plans from UnitedHealthcare

Everyone has different health care needs — that’s why UnitedHealthcare Individual & Family ACA Marketplace health care plans come in several different plan types to fit your lifestyle and your budget. Wondering which type of plan might be right for you? Here are the four types of UnitedHealthcare Individual & Family plans we offer.

Essential plan

Premium $, deductible $$$$

The Essential plan is a high-deductible plan with basic coverage for serious illness or injury. With an Essential plan, you pay a lower monthly premium, giving you affordable access to coverage. But with a high deductible, you’ll pay more when you get care. This plan is a good fit if you rarely see your provider, but you want a low-cost way to protect yourself from worst-case medical scenarios, like serious illness or injury.

Essential plans are available only at the Bronze metal level and only available when shopping off-exchange directly from UnitedHealthcare or through a licensed insurance agent.

Value plan

Premium $$, deductible $$

With the Value plan, enjoy a low or even $0 monthly premium1. You’ll have a moderate deductible, and you’ll pay a mix of copays and co-insurance when you get care. Some Value plans offer a Health Savings Account (HSA) option, a type of savings account that lets you set aside money pre-tax to pay for qualified medical expenses.

A Value plan might be a good fit if you see your provider regularly and want something with a few more benefits covered than an Essential plan.

The Value plan is available in all markets, on all metal levels.

Advantage plan

Premium $$$, deductible $

The Advantage plan offers more coverage in your health plan so you can see your provider more often and at a lower out-of-pocket cost. With an Advantage plan, you invest in a higher monthly premium to benefit from a lower deductible. You’ll pay manageable copays for many services, and reach your low deductible faster so you can save money when you need care the most.

This plan is a good match if you see your provider often, and you’re willing to pay a little more each month in premiums in order to pay less when you get care.

Advantage plans are available in most markets on Silver and Gold metal levels.

Copay Focus plan2

Premium $$$$, no deductible

Copay Focus plans are designed to help you know what your care costs may be before you head to the provider. With a Copay Focus plan, you’ll pay a moderate premium, and have a $0 medical deductible -- which means the plan begins to pay their portion from day one. You’ll pay fixed copays when you get care, so you can manage your health expenses without surprises.

A Copay Focus plan is a good fit for you if you prefer having predictable care costs that allow you to budget better for your health care. Copay Focus plans are available in all metal levels.

No matter which UnitedHealthcare ACA Marketplace plan you choose, UnitedHealthcare is here to help.
