Naloxone and PACE assistance program
Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an overdose that is caused by an opioid drug (i.e. prescription pain medication or heroin).
Based on research and stakeholder engagement conducted by multiple agencies, it has been identified that a major barrier to obtaining naloxone is its cost. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s PACE pharmacy benefit platform is implementing a copay assistance program to cover the consumer copay cost, up to $75 per naloxone kit. The program is not designed to cover the entire retail cost of the drug and is not available for those with Health Savings Account (HSA) plans.
