ARTICLE Southern Nevada Health District Receives $2 Million Grant From UnitedHealth Group and Sierra Health Services

LAS VEGAS (June 2, 2008) – UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) and its Sierra Health Services, Inc., business unit, have awarded a $2 million grant to the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) as part of the companies' ongoing commitment to enhance health care delivery in Nevada.

The grant, funded over three years, will be used to provide more than 23,000 free immunizations for employees of small businesses per year for three years. In addition, it will enable SNHD to launch the Nurse-Family Partnership program and provide 100 high-risk families facing first-time births with free enrollment in the new program, which will help finance 3,000 home visits. The grant represents approximately 16 percent of the total funding needed for these two programs.

"We are committed to improving access to health care services for all Nevadans, especially the underserved who face challenges in accessing affordable, quality health care," said Jonathon Bunker, CEO for the southwest region of UnitedHealthcare. "Both SNHD programs benefit vulnerable populations and improve the delivery of health care services in Clark County, which are goals we proudly and strongly share."

The contribution is part of an overall $15 million commitment to Nevada by UnitedHealth Group and Sierra Health. The grants and their identified uses are well-aligned with UnitedHealth Group/Sierra Health's historic and ongoing commitment to improve Nevada¿s health care delivery system.
